Import Your Passwords & Biometric Login

User Setup Part 2 — passwords in, biometrics on, in about five minutes.

Your Keeper account is set up — now make it yours. Part 2 moves the passwords your browser has been remembering into your vault with the Keeper Import Tool, then turns on biometric login so a fingerprint or glance unlocks Keeper on this device. If you haven't done your first sign-in yet, start with Part 1: User First-Time Setup.

Part 01

Import Your Passwords

Everything your browser has been remembering for you moves somewhere safer.

In the Web Vault, click your name in the top-right corner and choose Settings.

If you closed the Get Started panel, the account menu is the reliable path back to every setup option.

Select Import, then click Import next to From a Browser.

This gathers the passwords saved in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and other browsers on this computer. Plan to import your individual work credentials during your first 2–3 weeks — shared and team credentials are handled separately by your administrator.

Click Install to add the Keeper Import Tool.

Admin privileges are required — approve the Windows prompt if one appears. If you don't have admin rights on your computer, reply to your Keeper announcement email and the APM Support Desk will take care of it.

Open keeperimport.exe from your Downloads folder, and keep the vault window open — it shows a one-time code you'll need next.

Copy the code from the vault screen, paste it into the Keeper Import window, and click Import.

The code is single-use. If it has expired by the time you paste it, close the import and start again to get a fresh one.

When you see Success, return to the Web Vault, review the found records, and click Select All — or check only the records you want — then complete the import.

It is easier to bring everything in and delete a few extras than to run the import twice.

Part 02

Biometric Login

Your fingerprint or face becomes the fastest way into your vault.

When Keeper offers effortless security, click Enable Biometric Login.

You can also turn it on any time: in the Get Started panel, select Turn On Biometric Login and click Set Up Now.

Biometric login is set up separately for the browser extension and the desktop app — enable it in each place you use Keeper.

Scan your finger on the fingerprint reader — or use face unlock if your device supports it.

The passkey is saved to your Windows device and only your biometrics can use it. Everywhere else, your vault stays protected by two-factor authentication.

Biometric Login is now on — you'll see 1 Passkey under Security settings and a confirmation message.

Part 03

Finish Setup

Two small steps, and every item on your checklist turns green.

Back in Get Started, the last item is Enable Notifications — click Set Up.

Notifications let Keeper alert you to sharing invitations and security events that need your attention.

Click Allow on the browser prompt. That's it — every item on your Get Started checklist is complete.

Reply to the Keeper announcement email — your reply automatically opens a support ticket with the APM Support Desk. You can also reach out to your organization's internal Keeper contact.

Good to know

The one-time import code expires — if it stops working, restart the import for a fresh one. Biometric login is per-device: enable it on each computer where you use Keeper. Your imported browser passwords can be deleted from the browser afterward, so Keeper is the single source of truth.
